Special Outreach
Individuals and families are referred to CIP from multiple community
sources who rely on the agency to provide the mental health component
in the service continuum for their low-income and at-risk clients.
These include Marin Community Clinic, Marin Maternity Services,
Marin Suicide Prevention, Marin Abused Women's Services, and other
social service agencies. Referrals come from a variety of public
and private sources, including Child Protective Services, Marin
public schools, hospital crisis centers, and Community Mental
Health. In turn, CIP staff provide needed referrals to help clients
obtain the additional services they need, such as affordable medical
treatment, child care, safe housing, vocational training, education,
and so forth.

Often access to critical mental health services is
limited or unavailable to very low income people, because
of prohibitive costs. CIP has leveled the playing field
so that homeless people can also benefit from its healing
resources.
